Subject: [mvarbb] Greene County Amateur Radio License Courses

Greene County Amateur Radio License Courses

The Greene County Amateur Radio License Courses, jointly sponsored
through a
partnership of the three Greene County amateur radio clubs (BARC, UVARC
and
XWARN) and Greene County ARES, will be held concurrently on Sunday
evenings
from 7:00 to 9:30 PM beginning February 10 and continuing through April
13,
2008 (except for Easter Sunday March 23). An exam session is scheduled
for
Sunday, April 20, at 6:00 PM.

Courses for all three license classes are planned. Final planning for
locations and instructors currently is in progress. The dates and times
are
firm and a confirmation of locations will be announced soon.

There will be no charge for the courses but all students are encouraged
to
have a copy of the respective ARRL License Manual. We anticipate having
current editions of each license manual available the first two weeks of
the
courses at a discounted price. Please note that the new General Class
Question Pool became effective July 1, 2007 and the new question pool for
the Technician Class License Manual became effective July 1, 2006.
Thus,
older editions of the General Class and Technician Class license manuals
will not be current (or valid). The current Extra Class question pool
and
license manual are valid through July 1, 2008.

Please pass this information along to any prospective hams you know. No
experience is required for the entry level (Technician Class) amateur
radio
license & there is no age limit for obtaining an amateur radio license.

Also, current Technician Class hams should seriously consider upgrading
to
General Class and this course provides an ideal opportunity.

To sign up for one of the courses or for more information, please contact
Mike Crawford KC8GLE by email at < <mailto:KC8GLE at earthlink.com>
KC8GLE at earthlink.com> or by phone (between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM) at
426-2721.

The Greene County Education Committee is comprised of John Sellers W8QEO
(BARC), Jim Bishop N8GTE (UVARC), Mike Crawford KC8GLE (XWARN) and Fred
Stone W8LLY (GCARES). Instructors and support staff (from all four
groups)
will be announced once firmed up.

73, Fred
